I've come across a bit more info from other sources since I started this thread - people have said that the most common ways they 'double' count things for both awards are:

Using the 'Physical Recreation' part of the D of E Gold as their Personal Skill for QG.
Following the distance and length requirements for D of E Gold, and then adding in the personal leadership / focus requirements for QG Expedition to ensure that it counts for both.
Using Parts of Service in Guiding QG as the Service in the Community part of D of E.

I hope that is helpful! x

The Residential can count for both without any changing too . I started my QG in December and I've just started my Gold this week. Tell your Gold instructor (of whatever it's called) that youre doing both and show them your QG plan timetable thing. They love it.

i am currently doing both queens guide and gold d 0f e and they aint the different to be honest.  the only difference is that on queens guide that you only need to do 60 hours for both your service and your skill.
